Len McLaughlin was born in Glasgow, Scotland, but his father comes from Donegal so he has a deep Irish connection. After joining the Royal Navy at 18 he travelled the world and saw active service in the Falkland Islands. He retired in 1988, following injury in the conflict. In his short time with the Navy he attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer working in radar and operations groups. He then went to Australia to work on an assignment with the Australian Navy, during which time he married and has two children, a daughter Clare and a son Alex.
After returning to the UK in 1991, Len started a small aerospace business, which he has successfully grown into a multi-million pound global concern. Len is a true entrepreneur and continues to develop his business with the introduction of innovative products, often of his own design.
Len is related to Marie by marriage and has been a supporter of her Irish Dancing activities over many years. He is passionate about his Irish background and is looking forward to making a real contribution to the success of the Foundation.
